I have a feeling this will be a very significant nerf, though obviously it won't make the boss completely steamroll. I wonder if addons/weak auras need updating?

I'm sure our pro hunters have been doing this already. But I just read that on Gorefiend you can jump off the back of the platform, drop doom debuff, disengage back up.
Cuts would you mind showing Aelloon how to do that?
This actually just puts it on the platform in the corner. Ends up having an adverse effect since you don't actually know where it's going to be placed and could end up double ticking someone else. But if you are the only one in an area, it can prevent you from taking a tick.
<- Was doing it with transcendence in early attempts.

I have not been doing that. I heard about it but it seemed like the risk was too great in comparison to the reward. I have been dropping puddles on top of other puddles instead, immuning the damage with deter, which is effectively provides the same result.
One thing I'm not sure if I've mentioned is having this macro:
I first heard about this tip from Kennyloggins, a hunter from Midwinter. According to him, Blizzard has gotten really smart about deciding which boss frame to use in the boss1 slot. I haven't tested it on a lot of other bosses, but I have found it to be really helpful on Gorefiend. It saves me a lot of brain power and input lag by being able to get a steady shot or two off on gore fiend to build focus while I'm scanning for an essence that is about to spawn etc. It also ensures that I don't accidentally click on a player and dps them when I'm using globals in between add spawns./target boss1
/use steady shot
The one thing I should note about this macro is that it didn't replace my normal steady shot bind; I instead replaced my multishot bind (which is essentially a completely useless spell as MM). I therefore haven't tested using this while downstairs, and probably would recommend making a separate macro that uses a filler spell instead of throwing target boss1 into existing spell macros.
